MEGAN GERJETS
Hi there!! My name is Megan Gerjets. I am the Assistant Administrator here at Central Rehabilitation and I also supervise the speech and occupational therapists. I started at Central Rehabilitation in the summer of 2007. I grew up in Waukee (back when it was a small town), and then I returned back to the Des Moines area after completing my undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and graduate studies at Missouri State University.

I completed my clinical fellowship here at Central Rehabilitation and have never left. I went into speech therapy as I knew I wanted to be in the medical profession to help people, but I do not like blood! In college, I took the introduction class to speech therapy and was hooked. I love the variety of patients we see and in a variety of settings. I love being able to help the littles and then see adults. The variety of patients keep me on my toes and constantly using all of my skills.

My husband, Joe and I have two daughters Nora and Elyse that keep us constantly on our toes and with caffeine in our hands, but we wouldn’t have it any other way! In my free time, I am a big sports fan, especially cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes (Go Hawks!!). I also enjoy shopping, traveling (when able), and being with family and friends.
HEATHER MCCLELLAN
Hello, my name Heather McClellan. I am originally from Iowa, I grew up in southeast Iowa, received my undergraduate degree from Loras College in Dubuque and my Master of Science of Physical Therapy from Des Moines University in 2002.
I started with Central Rehabilitation in 2002 and transitioned to my Doctor of Physical Therapy while working in 2003. I initially practiced in skilled nursing facilities and transitioned to primarily adult home health and keeping patients safe in their homes.
In my spare time, I enjoy taking road trips with my husband and exploring the National Parks. I have visited 36 of the 63 current National Park sites so far. I also enjoy spending time with family at Lake Thunderhead in Missouri, helping at my sister’s shop in Door County, WI for the village’s Fall Fest and going to Colorado for Thanksgiving.

MADALYN JAMES
Hi! My name is Madalyn James, and I am a Speech Language Pathologist and the Pediatric Coordinator for Central Rehabilitation (CR). I have worked at CR for almost 10 years! I completed my undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Northern Iowa. Go Panthers! I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders and received my Master of Arts in Speech Language Pathology.
You can find me primarily working with the preschool population. I am also certified in SOS Feeding Therapy as this has become one of my passions. Talking with parents and building connections with families is one of the amazing opportunities my role as Pediatric Coordinator has to offer.
I was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa and moved to the Des Moines area when I joined the CR family. I am a mom of two boys and one fur pup. We are a family that loves to go on adventures; big or small.
I love exploring the food scene that the Metro has to offer. I also enjoy biking, yoga, and cooking with my kids.
SHARON DOUD
I’m Sharon Doud, Office Manager and Central Rehabilitation team member since 1986. As the Office Manager, I oversee business operations including insurance verification and billing, medical records, account receivable, training and management of business operations staff. In my 30 plus years of working at Central Rehabilitation, my co-workers have always been the best part of working here. They are dedicated, enthusiastic professionals and truly caring people.

Outside of work, my husband Dave and I have a farming operation growing corn, soybeans, hay, and a cow/calf herd. We have three children and one new grandchild! Although they are not all close by, we love traveling to California and Colorado to visit and look forward to their return trips to Iowa. In my free time I enjoy being outdoors, yoga, and time spent with family. My passion is growing cut flowers, I currently grow and provide cut flowers to event designers and florists. It’s rewarding to see the others enjoy the flowers that I have grown on my farm.

BARBARA NEBEL
Hello! My name is Barb Nebel. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with my master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology and have spent my professional career working with children and adults with communication and swallowing disorders.
I have been privileged to assist patients and their families in our clinic setting, but also in hospitals, homes, childcare centers, and skilled, and long-term nursing settings. In addition to practicing as a speech/language pathologist, I have served as the Director of Rehabilitation Services at both urban and rural hospitals in the Des Moines and surrounding rural areas. I have been an active member of the Iowa Speech and Hearing Association and continue to serve as a liaison for issues revolving around insurance (private healthcare, Medicare, and Medicaid).
Central Rehabilitation, Ltd has been my work home since 1987 when the company only employed 2 speech/language pathologists! Physical and occupational therapies were added early in the 1990s.
My career at Central Rehabilitation has allowed me to grow professionally with eventual acquisition of the company when the founding owner retired in 2012.
My husband Pete and my two sons, Colton and Clayton have kept me centered. I was so excited to welcome my first grandson in January, 2023! My family and I can usually be found during the weekend summer days in Clear Lake Iowa. Pete and I lived in Clear Lake when we were first married and have been excited to return to a summer home on the lake. Boating, jet skiing, and sitting around the fire pit enjoying the evenings make up our days there. Pippa Ray, our grand puppy, often joins us on our adventures around Clear Lake.
